Little Black
Cat
I once was thought lucky but now I'm "old hat"
I'm not in the fashion, I'm a little black cat
The visitors come and they pass with a smile
I'm not young but I'm friendly and I've been here a while
"We wanted a tabby" I've heard them request
I know I'm not tabby but I'm doing my best
I've tried rolling over and waving my paw
But they just take a glance and pass by my door
"Maybe a ginger, that one looks nice"
but a little black cat, no one looks twice
If you come to the pens, just wait and see
They'll choose all the others but no on picks me.
Hello everyone, thanks for popping in, my name is Belle
and I’m a nine year-old wee lassie. I had to come into the
care of Cats Protection when my mum took ill. We both loved
each other so much but I knew she wasn’t keeping all that
well, and I noticed that it had become much more difficult
for her to look after me. I didn’t mind, I knew she loved
me, and of course, I loved her; just that at times, she
couldn’t do things as quickly as she wanted to and, as she
told me in confidence, she wouldn’t get any better so she
took the best of advice and although it was very difficult,
(we were both in tears that day), she asked Cats Protection
to look after me until I get a new home, so here I am.
Don’t worry mum, I’m fine now with my foster mum and she has
been spoiling me rotten. My mum left a wee note for Roz to
let her know that I love cheese and onion crisps, tablet,
and, well, I’m not too fussy on ‘meat’ cat food so if you
have some nice chicken I might just think about becoming
your friend. My mum also left me some kitty chew sticks, so
that was a wee hint too. Thanks mum! Anyhow, my foster mum
is spoiling me, I have a nice lovely warm heated bed, and as
much as I can eat. She plays with me, (don’t let my nine
years fool you; I can take on these two year-olds anytime!)
and, now that I have settled-in, I am, actually quite
content. Oh, my mum left me all my toys too, so they will
all just have to come with me, I don’t travel light!. Now
all I need is a nice safe garden where I can go out to play.
I have been very lucky all my days in that I have had access
to fields, so if you have somewhere just as nice, I might
just consider you!! Oh, and I would bring you the odd feline
present, as us cats do, it’s my way of saying, thanks… I
love you!Well, although my photo is nice, you really need to
see me in the fur, so if you have a notion and can meet all
my feline demands (just joking), please drop us a line on
something called the Cats Protection website, or phone my
personal answering service on 0845 371 2719 and I’ll have my
staff get back to you. Anyway, thanks for the blether, I
enjoyed it, it was nice, take care till we meet. Yours,
Belle.
Fosterers Note: Belle has lived with the same
devoted owner all her life. It was under very sad
circumstances that she found herself needing a new home. She
is a little bewildered at the moment and is not sure why her
world has changed. We are anxious therefore to see her
settled in a loving home ASAP. Belle needs an experienced
adult only home where her new owner would give her the space
and patience to come round to her new surroundings in her
own time. Belle needs access to a safe outside area and
would not be suited to a home with other pets. She is
vaccinated, microchipped and fully health checked and is
ready for you as soon as you are.
