Hi cat lovers,
my name is Jean Paul and all I want is a loving
family to adopt me as It's a long time since I had a
home to call my own. I was picked up as a stray when a nice
family felt sorry for me and they called Cats Protection to
help as I was so thin. They were lovely people and were
feeding me until Cats Protection had a foster space to take
me in. I can't thank those people enough - you know who you
are. When I came into care, I weighed less than 3kg and I
was nothing more than skin and bones. I was taken straight
to the vets and it was touch and go with me for a while.
Blood tests showed that there was something wrong with my
thyroid gland and because it had been left
untreated this is why I was losing so much weight and I
always felt hungry. My foster mum fell in love with me the
very second she saw me and I have to say I felt the same way
but then I love everyone coz I'm that kind of boy. After
just three weeks of good food, the right medication and
plenty of TLC I had already put on over 20% of my body
weight and the vet was so pleased with me that he said I was
ready to be adopted. My foster mum wants me to tell you that
I am one of the friendliest cuddly, snuggly cats she has
ever fostered and I know for a fact that if she had her way
she would keep me all to herself. I would be quite happy to
stay but I know that my mum has other cats she must help so
I'm hoping that other people will love me as much as she
does. I would love a home where I could have company during
the day as I like nothing more than being stroked and
someone making a fuss of me. My ideal home would be
somewhere there is a nice safe garden to lie in when it's
sunny and a nice cosy bed to cuddle up inside when it's
colder. Because I am so friendly, I would be fine in a home
with children and I get on with other cats too. I have
bucketloads of love to give and will give loads of purrs and
affection to my new family. Yes, it's true, my party piece
is actually giving my foster mum purry kisses, I'm a real
show off too!!! It is Cats Ptotection's opinion that my last
family threw me out when they discovered that I was going to
cost them money for medication. I need to take two tablets
every day to keep me well but I'm a very good boy and I am
easy to medicate. My friends at Cats Protection will pay for
my medication for the rest of my life, as they don't want my
new family to worry about the cost - they just want someone
to love me. They are also organising a barbecue with a
raffle and auction in August to help pay for my treatment,
so anyone reading this appeal and would like to help in any
way, please contact the volunteers who would be very
grateful. I adore being brushed and my foster dad has got my
coat lovely and shiny once again, so I'm looking really
handsome. I am neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and all
ready to move into my new home soon - I hope that my new
family are reading this wee story and will contact Cats
Protection soon. Jean Paul xxxx
Fosterers note:
Jean Paul is a real character, He has a lovely sweet nature
which is humbling considering he has been let down by the
very people he loved and trusted. Unfortunately we are
seeing more older cats being abandoned once they develop
medical conditions. Jean Paul's thyroid condition is quite
simple to control. Throughout all his ordeal he has never
stopped purring and he adores everyone he meets. He did not
deserve to be treated the way he has been and we feel what
he does deserve is a second chance. He has been a joy and a
pleasure to foster and whoever adopts him will be blessed
with a very special cat indeed.
