Diabetic cat Kurayami is looking
for loving new home.
A diabetic cat is in
desperate need of a loving new home with an owner who can cope with
her medical condition. Kurayami has been cared for at Cats
Protection’s West Lothian Branch since 2nd April 2008.
Because she is
diabetic, Kurayami needs an owner who will be able to administer
insulin injections at specific times every day and she will also
need regular veterinary check-ups.
Kurayami is a beautiful
black shorthaired girl aged eight years old who came into care as
her previous owner could not cope with her insulin injections. She
is the most loving and affectionate wee soul who is very easy to
medicate. She loves to be stroked and will show her affection by
headbutting you.
Spokesperson Roz
Fleming says: “Just like people, diabetic cats can lead normal,
happy lives provided they receive the care and attention they need.
Kurayami will need an experienced owner who is willing to take on
the responsibility of coping with her medical condition. In return,
Kurayami will make the right person a wonderful pet.”
Cats Protection
operates a Diabetic Cat Register (DCR) as a helpful advice network
for owners of felines with the condition.
Managing diabetes in
cats can seem a daunting prospect, but the DCR contains a list of
other owners who have experiences with diabetic cats and are willing
to share their knowledge (non-veterinary only) on a voluntary
basis.
The DCR is available by
contacting Cats Protection’s Helpline by email at
helpline@cats.org.uk or by sending an A5 self-addressed envelope
with stamps to the value of 50p to: Diabetic Cat Register
(Helpline), Cats Protection, National Cat Centre, Chelwood Gate,
Haywards Heath, RH17 7TT.
