We want to introduce you to Poppy, a lovely, 8 year old grey and white female. Poppy is still living with her current owners until Cats Protection can find her a new home. Her family are moving abroad at the start of 2009 and as Poppy gets extremely distressed in a cat carrier, they believe it is best to find her a new family rather than subject her to a 16 hour flight. Poppy is an independent character who wants affection on her terms. She loves to be in human company but not handled too much. She likes to sit behind you on the back of the sofa to watch TV and sleep against your leg on the bed at night and she enjoys a scratch under the chin and behind the ears, play fighting, climbing her scratching post and being chased up the stairs! Poppy has been in 'fat camp' and tells lies to get extra food, so her new family will need to balance any treats with increased exercise. She has risen to the challenge of living with a new baby in the house and she tolerates toddlers - unless her tail gets pulled! Poppy has been socialised with 5 rabbits over the years but a ideally home with no children, other cats or dogs would be her preference. Poppy has lived her whole life as an indoor cat but just adores outings in the garden. These visits would need to be supervised as she can scale 6 foot high fences and has no road sense.
