TAYLOR'S STORY

Hi there, my name is Taylor and this is my story. I came into foster care in mid November 2007 because my owner could no longer look after me. Cats Protection knew that it might be difficult to re-home me as I am 15 years old and I am on medication for a heart murmur and an over active thyroid. This made no difference to Cats Protection as they never turn any cat away, no matter what age or illnesses they may have, so I knew I would be well looked after until a forever home was found for me. I was taken to my foster home and put in my own special room that all us foster cats have. Many of the fosterers have cats of their own, so foster cats have a room to themselves and they are then gradually introduced to the other cats in the house. Well, I had absolutely no intentions of being shut in a room alone so on the first night I cried and cried until, after only having two hours sleep, my foster mum got up and let me out. I then proceded down the stairs to the living room where I have been ever since! I met my mum’s other cats and we got on well from the word go. I hardly ever go upstairs now as I have some arthritis in my legs and find it a bit of a struggle so I have beds and blankets all over the living room as I like to sleep in different places throughout the day. A couple of days later I was taken to the vets for a full health check - my medical records had already been faxed to the vet before hand. After the vet had looked at my records they discovered that I'd had previous surgery to remove my thyroid gland, however the procedure was stopped as they discovered a lot of growths around my thyroid gland and it would have been dangerous to continue. The growths were not biopsied so the vet is not certain if the growths are cancerous or not, however it does not look good. The vet thought I would only have 6 months to a year left to live so, after talking to the vet and the other fosterers at Cats Protection, it was decided that I would stay in foster care for the rest of my days. I am keeping well at the moment and my foster mum says I am the best boy in the world as I have to be medicated four times a day and I do so without the slightest bit of bother. If you would like to make a donation to help Cats Protection with the cost of my care this would be greatly appreciated. I know I may not have very long left but at the moment I am so very happy with my foster mum and dad and also my Auntie Heather who comes round to spend time with me. I love it whenever she comes as I know that a grooming session is in store and I absolutely love to be groomed so much so that I try to lick her hand to give my approval. I know my foster family will be very sad when my times comes but my Auntie Heather says that knowing they have made my last days as happy and as loving as any cat could possibly ask for and this will make things a little easier when the time comes to say goodbye. Now please don’t be sad for me as I couldn’t possibly want for anything more but if you feel you could offer any of the other cats in Cats Protection care a home, please call today as they all need that special place to call home. I must go now but keep checking this page for future updates.

Luv ‘n’ purrs Taylor. xxxx
